PML-N targets January to end Zardari govt

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has set a target to hold snap polls next year in January and end the rule of the federal government ahead of senate elections. Talking to reporters on Friday, PML-N Information Secretary Mushahidullah Khan said his party was in good terms with the establishment in contrast to the growing perception that party chief Nawaz Sharif was at odds with the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
He said his party was following a one-point agenda: to oust President Asif Ali Zardari’s government with the full force of public. “The PML-N has spurred up mass movement by mobilising people from grassroots level. Climax will reach in December and the government will be buried alive in January,” he added.
“Four years are enough to deliver and people know that the PPP badly failed to perform due to its own corruption and mismanagement by its own leadership,” he added. He said the PML-N was ready to use all options, which included resigning form the national and provincial assemblies.
“We are even ready to reunite with the Chaudhrys (PML-Quaid leaders) and all dissident groups. We have opened gates for everyone to join the PML-N in greater national interest,” Mushahid disclosed the party’s new policy.
He said the possibility of including Sheikh Rashid was not ruled out, but at present there were no attempts to bring him back. He said the PML-N could possibly forge an alliance with the Jamaat-e-Islami for the elections. He played down the popularity of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan, saying the former cricket legend was more popular in 1997 than present. He claimed that his party had negotiations with Khan in 1997 who was demanding over 25 seats in the assembly, but the PML-N did not want to give him more than 10.
No participation from PML-N Sindh in ‘Go Zardari Go’ rally
KARACHI: None of the workers of the PML-N from Sindh will participate in the rally to be taken out by the party today (Thursday) in Lahore. PML-N Sindh remained silent and did not show any interest even though the central leadership of the party was giving a lot of importance to it with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif holding public rallies in various places to invite people to come forward and attend the October 28 protest rally. PML-N Sindh Chief Organiser Saleem Zia would not be attending the rally in Lahore while, according to an insider Ghous Ali Shah would participate in the protest as he was already in the city. Other PML-N Sindh leaders including Ismail Raho and Soorath Thebo would not be present. The PML-N’s ‘Go Zardari Go’ rally will start from Nasir Bagh and will end at Bhaati Gate. Shahbaz and other PML-N leaders will address the rally. “Some people from Badin district went to Lahore but no caravan managed to go to attend the rally,” Raho to Pakistan today on Thursday. No body from PML-N was ready to reveal why PML-N Sindh remained away from the protest in Lahore. Qazi Asif
