Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s minister restored 874 “out-of-turn” promotions in the Sindh Industrial Trading Estates (SITE) and the Sindh Small Industries Corporation (SSIC) on Wednesday that were revoked by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s minister. MQM-backed Sindh Industries and Commerce Minister Rauf Siddiqui has annulled PPP-backed Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro’s order of cancelling “out-of-turn” promotions that the latter had issued when he was given the additional charge of industries and commerce after the MQM had quit the coalition government in July. Terming the 874 “out-of-turn” promotions made by Siddiqui in SITE and SSIC as illegal, Soomro had cancelled them; however, when the industries and commerce portfolio was handed over to the MQM minister again, he cancelled the PPP minister’s order.
Sources said the promotions were made in violation of the Rules of Business of the Sindh government as no legal formalities were met in the promotion process. They said the PPP minister had taken action after Industries and Commerce Secretary Zameer Ahmed Khan had briefed the minister about the illegal promotions. However, the MQM minister has restored all promotions and instructed the promotion committee to finalise the promotion lists according to merit, they added. “We promoted the officers three months ago according to law, but the promotions were cancelled without any reason. I shall never let any injustice be done to honest officers during my tenure,” the sources quoted the MQM minister as saying.
Qaim Ali Shah recently restored his Doolha Bhai after a period of 24 years. Write about that as well. The Punjab newspapers always project the MQM in a negative way.
