A petition filed against the alleged illegal appointments in Islamabad High Court (IHC) was dismissed by the same court on Wednesday.
Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan heard the case. Counsel for the petitioner, Advocate Raja Samiul Haq Satti, contended that some administrative appointments in BPS-2 to BPS-19 had been made by the competent authority allegedly against the rules, which would create hardships for the general public but also cause financial losses to the public exchequer, besides depriving qualified persons of their fundamental right.
However, Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan, after hearing arguments, in its order said that notifications attached with the petition showed that appointments had been made either on deputation or in relaxation of the rules. He held that the chief justice was competent to relax the rules and make appointments. “The appointments were made by the competent authority. It has not been proved that the persons appointed were not eligible for the posts against which they have been appointed,” the court further held.
