Notices issued to govt officials in MQM men’s arrest plea

The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notices to officials of the provincial and federal governments on Wednesday including the interior secretary, home secretary, Rangers Sindh DG, Sindh IGP in five identical petitions about the alleged arrest of 10 Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activists. A division bench of the SHC including Chief Justice Musheer Alam and Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh ordered the respondents to file their comments on November 10 and adjourned the proceedings.
The father of Gul Muhammad, one of the alleged arrested men, in his petition stated that his son is an employee of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and not involved in criminal activities. On October 18, some plainclothes law enforcers arrested his son from the Baldia Town and did not produce him in any court. He said that his son is a close aide of the area’s MNA Suhail Mansoor of the MQM and looks after his office. The brother of Asif Raza, another alleged arrested man, claimed in his petition that his brother is a city warden and was deputed in the Korangi area. On September 30, some law enforcers arrested him from Mukka Chowk in Azizabad.

  1. Let us hope justices don’t succumb to pressure from thugs. In Mustafa Kamal’s iron grip rule of Karachi MQM terrorists were inducted in KWSB and CDGK. Someone mentioned above is obviously a worker of MQM MNA and it was illegal to work any government organisation. Anees Qaimkhani is a Rabita Committee member and holds office in KWSB. The justices should take notice.

    The LEA should nominate these thugs and let the. courts decide.
