Renowned social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi said that corruption and poverty have gone beyond the control of the current government and proposed that COAS General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani should take over the reign of power for six months to set things right, according to a local newspaper.
Edhi was talking to the media after offering Fateha at the mausoleum of Begum Nusrat Bhutto on the occasion of her Qul at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on Wednesday.
He said that currently the corruption is so high that the present government could not overcome it mainly owing to involvement of its own elements in promoting them.
“Both corruption and poverty have gone beyond control in the country and if immediate remedial measures are not taken the situation will further deteriorate,” he warned.
He also said that those buried at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh had pledged food, clothing and shelter to the poor masses but today there is no one to care for them. Instead poverty is going up with each passing day and the unprecedented corruption has made things worse for the poor.
