Renowned social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi said that corruption and poverty have gone beyond the control of the current government and proposed that COAS General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani should take over the reign of power for six months to set things right, according to a local newspaper.
Edhi was talking to the media after offering Fateha at the mausoleum of Begum Nusrat Bhutto on the occasion of her Qul at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on Wednesday.
He said that currently the corruption is so high that the present government could not overcome it mainly owing to involvement of its own elements in promoting them.
“Both corruption and poverty have gone beyond control in the country and if immediate remedial measures are not taken the situation will further deteriorate,” he warned.
He also said that those buried at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh had pledged food, clothing and shelter to the poor masses but today there is no one to care for them. Instead poverty is going up with each passing day and the unprecedented corruption has made things worse for the poor.

No to Army Rule…
all you democracy huggers need to realise 2 things:
1) the global media (news, movies etc) have convinced (brainwashed) people that the best form of government is democracy. Please do some critical research. It's only working in the scandanavian countries because of the people and its their way of governance for centuries. America? UK? are not examples, please, phffft…
2) A well maintained republic with independent institutions is the best form of government where democracy exists within each institution where all follow the law and play by the rules which may be changed through proper legislation when a bill is passed with a majority in the parliament.
We must strive for the republic and its institutions. Saying you want democracy is easy, naive and susceptible to manipulation by politicians and elites who play with the public because of the vague nature of what is democracy. Lets get real.
Edhi for president. Or whoever he endorses.
Dont agree . Let the public to decide rather than army ..
which puadise. this is pakistan. nothing will ever change or improve here
blic. you r living in fools par
which public. we are sense less people. corrupt to the core. stay here and ebjoy zaradari and sharif TOLA. u deserve them .
bullshit.I don`t know how come these social workers think themelves to be experts in politics as well. If they belive they can change the fate of Nation they should contest elections & if they win thy can play their role.
kia kayani angel hay. zardari tolay ka rakhwala aur bhaion ki corruption ka rakhwala
No matter what the people say about what social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi has said but the only solution to Pakistan's problems is one – ARMY. We are not tailored for democratic rule because our politicians have their kingdoms where people are slaves and they are masters. Look at what one politician says to other and how it effects the peace of Karachi. At least this don't happen in Army rule. If Musharraf was so bad that he gave permission to US to conduct drone attacks, count the number of attacks during his rule and count the numbers in the last three and half years.
He (Musharraf) never told America that "you continue with drone attacks. We will make fake noises in our assembly." Musharraf never said that "he doesn't mind if innocent people gets killed in drone attacks." We all know which two top position holders of this country's government told this to America.
So, East or West – Army is the best !!!
