As the dengue fever epidemic spreads across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the government has declared the entire province “calamity-hit area”, said a press release issued by KP government on Thursday. It said the declaration was made under the West Pakistan National Calamities (Prevention & Relief) Act, 1958, and the status would remain effective until further orders. All powers of the provincial relief commissioner have been delegated to the provincial Health Department secretary, specifically regarding the prevention and control of the outbreak and to provide immediate relief to the dengue victims.
