Aisam-Bopanna to face Polish pair in quarters

Pakistani tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his Indian partner Rohan Bopanna will face M Fyrstenberg and M Matkowski of Poland in the quarterfinals of the Vienna Open Tennis Tournament today. In their first round on Wednesday, Indo-Pak express defeated the Brazilian pair of Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares by 2-6, 7-6, 10-4. Aisam nominated for Stefen Edberg Award: Pakistan’s top tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi has been nominated by Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) in the select list of four top tennis stars of the world for selection of the “Stefen Edberg Sportsmanship Award 2011”. The award is given each year through voting by member players of ATP World Tour Div I and Div II.
This year’s nominees are Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi. The nomination of a Pakistani tennis player for a prestigious international award along with top players of the game reflects the honour and respect he has earned for himself and the country at the international level through his character, behaviour and conduct both on court and off the court as well as excellence in the sport of tennis. Aisam has twice in the last decade been given “The Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award” by ATP World Tour USA, which by itself is a unique honour for him and his country.
