The US Consulate General, Lahore signed a $10,000 (Rs 870,000) grant with the Lahore Press Club to improve the capacity for journalism. The US Consulate also sponsored a concert at the LPC to honour Daniel Pearl World Music Days and the Pakistani journalists who lost their lives in the line of duty. The concert featured Mary McBride, a popular American country-rock band. The $10,000 grant from the US Consulate to LPC hopes to improve the ability of journalists to do their jobs.
The grant includes funds for media training workshops and lectures. It includes funds for a new resource center, including a reference library and new computers and multi-media projectors. Daniel Pearl was a Wall Street Journal bureau chief who was brutally murdered by extremists in Karachi in 2002. Pearl was also a musician who joined music groups wherever he travelled.
