The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Khyber Agency has demanded the government immediately restore the registration process of thousands internally displace persons (IDPs) of Bara residing in Jalozai Camp and provide them all basic facilities. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Iqbal Afridi, PTI Khyber organiser, said the government had recently issued notice to Sepah and Malik Den Khel tribes to vacate their homes due to the military operation. He said thousands of people left their houses and settled in Jalozai Camp, even under open sky without proper facilities provided to them by the government. Flanked by Khan Rahman, member of PTI tehsil organising committee, Sobedar (r) Shah Jahan, Haji Mula Khel, Haji Gulbat, Haji Namdar Khan and Haji Kanat, Iqbal alleged that security forces had broken the locks of vacant houses of IDPs and took away valuable goods.
He said the registration process was extremely slow because the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had deputed one person for registering thousands of affected people in Jalozai Camp. He said the number of IDPs was increasing each day but there was no basic facilities for them at the camp. “Due to the military operation in Bara, all educational institutions and business centres had been closed and constant curfew had made the life of the people miserable, while notices were issued everyday to various tribes for vacating their houses,” Iqbal said.
