Make sure it’s a clean Eidul Azha: DCO

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Roshan Ali Shaikh directed town administrations on Tuesday to finalise all cleaning arrangements for the upcoming Eidul Azha within a week before the religious festival.
“The town administrations need to ensure that additional machinery, vehicles and manpower for this purpose are present in advance,” the DCO said during a meeting held at the Civic Centre to review Eid arrangements.
The DCO pointed out that dumping of offal in the Lyari and Malir rivers would be prohibited and city wardens would be deputed to ensure this does not happen. “Six teams of three officers each will monitor the lifting and disposal of offal and cleaning work in different areas of city during Eid.”
The meeting was attended by Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) Managing Director Misbahuddin Farid, Executive District Officer (EDO) Revenue Ganhor Khan Leghari, EDO Works and Services Altaf G Memon, EDO Health Dr Nasir Javed, EDO Municipal Services Dr Shoukat Zaman, town administrators and other officers of the city government.
The DCO told the officers to prepare a plan for lifting and burial of offal in trenches during the three days of the festival.
He also directed them to take strict action against the establishment of illegal cattle markets in the city and mobilise the anti-encroachment cell for this purpose.
He said that besides the usual offal-lifting vehicles, two fumigation vehicles will be provided to each town and four vehicles would be stationed at the DCO’s Camp Office as back-up.
Shaikh also directed the Veterinary Department to make arrangements for setting up of camps with vets and medicines at the designated cattle market. EDO Finance Aamir Khurshid was nominated as the focal person for this purpose.
