Nasir Iqbal and Zoya Khalid clinched men’s and women’s title respectively of the Punjab National Open Squash Championship here at the Punjab Squash Complex on Tuesday.
President Punjab Squash Association Malik Amjad Ali Noon was the chief guest at the final match and gave away prizes to winners and runners-up.
SVP PSA Mian Fazal Haq, VP Technical PSA Karamat Ullah Chaudry, Treasurer PSA Muhammad Mansoor and Secretary Pakistan Squash Federation Wing Commander Wahab were also present on the occasion.
Nasir Iqbal of KPK took 39 minutes to overpower Tayyab Aslam of Punjab. The first game of the match was quite a tough battle but in end the Nasir prevailed.
His win in the opening game provided him more confidence and took away confidence and stamina from Tayyab. The score being 12/10, 11/7,11/3.
Earlier, in the women’s final, Zoya Khalid of ZTBL had to pass through all the narrow ends to beat Rushna Mehboob, her team-mate from ZTBL.
Zoya remained locked in pressing 33 minutes encounter with Rushna. The score was 11/9, 11/7, 17/15 (3-0).
