DHA residents to get cattle market in their backyard

The cattle market that set up opposite the Sunday Bazaar in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase-VIII would be inaugurated on Wednesday (today).
This cattle market would be one of a kind, providing an opportunity to the residents of DHA for buying sacrificial animals right in their backyard.
The administration of the cattle market has established the market with a special focus on security measures.
The elite breed of animals would be brought to this market from across the country – including Nawabshah, goats from Mirpurkhas, and cows and bulls from the Punjab province.
A seller at the cattle market said the market was supposed to be opened on Tuesday, but since a public holiday was announced a day earlier on account of Nusrat Bhutto’s demise, the administration could not obtain the licence, which has now been granted.
He said, “I’ve brought 100 goats last night, which are kept at another location. I have elite breed of goats from Nawabshah, Tando Adam and Sanghar, ranging from Rs 18,000 to Rs 35,000.”
Vendor Muhammad Amin said the cattle market would to inaugurated on Wednesday and the owners have started bringing sacrificial animals.
“The DHA administration has rented us this place and allowed all traders to bring their sacrificial animals here,” he said.
He also said the entry charges for cows and goats are Rs 2,500 and Rs 500 respectively. The administration would provide free water for the animals for that price, he added.
When contacted, DHA PRO expressed ignorance regarding the cattle market established in the precincts of DHA Phase-VIII.
However, he said the DHA state department might have established the cattle market, adding, “I myself am unaware of establishment of such a market.”
