Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advani has followed up his “weakest PM” attack on Dr Manmohan Singh by saying that Singh was just a prime minister in name and all decisions were taken by Sonia Gandhi.
On the Orissa leg of his 38-day yatra against corruption, Advani on Monday stopped at Bargarh to continue his concerted attack on the PM. “When I speak about Manmohan Singh’s government, I believe that though officially Manmohan Singh is the prime minister, he does not take the decisions. The decisions are taken by the Congress president.”
Last week, when Advani said Dr Singh was the “weakest prime minister that the country had had”, the PM had suggested that Advani not use harsh words or intemperate language. The prime minister also said he would not criticise any national leader.
Advani clearly had no such compunctions. He countered the PM’s words the very next day by saying that he had meant no harshness but “if calling a spade a spade is wrong, then I plead guilty to being harsh”.
