Once more the Al-Hamra Arts Council is expected to be filled with music as students are to gather on October 25, 2011, on the first day of the All Pakistan Music Conference (APMC). APMC Secretary General Dr Ghazala Irfan told Pakistan Today that on the first day there were expected to be about 60 performances.
Students will be showing their skills and will be divided into three main categories, including schools, colleges and amateurs, and their performances will be classified into a three minute ghazal or folk song performance, and a five minute classical performance. “We have a very long list of what is to come for the next four days,” said Dr Ghazala. “There are about 85 artists. We have so many performances and people are expected to come and go whenever they like. APMC is doing a lot and no one can deny that there is no promotion of classical and semi classical music in Lahore.” APMC will last till October 29.
