Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken into custody 22 foreigners and 8 NADRA personnel under the charges of issuing identity cards to foreign nationals.
As per Tariq Malik, Deputy Chairman NADRA, 8 officials of NADRA were involved in issuing the cards to foreign nationals.
FIA was informed on this count, and as soon as foreign nationals came up there to collect their identity cards, FIA arrested them. Majority of arrested persons are Afghan nationals.
According to deputy chairman NADRA, the 8 officials of NADRA who were behind issuing cards had been suspended, and handed over to FIA for further investigation.
