Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastageer Khan began a 3-day anti-polio campaign in district Karak on Sunday, by administering polio vaccination to children. Addressing the launching ceremony of the anti-polio campaign, he urged people to come forward as volunteers and support the health teams who were working against polio. Dastageer said that Pakistan would mark October 24 as the International Polio Day. The chief secretary was briefed by Health Executive District Officer (EDO) Balqiaz Khattak on the status of polio in Karak. Karak has been polio-free for the last twelve years, he was told. Dastageer said that the threat of polio in Karak remained until the virus was eradicated from the entire country.
