Aitchison College is looking for a new principal for a five-year term as incumbent Principal Fakir Syed Aijazuddin’s contract is about to expire at the end of this year, Pakistan Today has learnt.
According to a newspaper advertisement, the university will pay Rs 0.6 million to the new principal. Sources informed Pakistan Today that parents and students were not satisfied with Aijazuddin’s performance. Parents said Aitchison’s educational standard had deteriorated in his tenure and students’ results had also worsened. They requested the appointment of a competent principal to maintain the legacy of Aitchison College. Aitchison College is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in South Asia which was established in 1886.

  1. 'One of the most prestigious educational institutions', which is why it this advertisement should not be here.

    • Obviously this articles was a planned campaign that Governor Khusa has initiated for the admissions and the new principal placements. Rumors are in the inner circle that Mr. Khusa wants to charge rupees 2 million per child rather than the great merit system that bought college prestige and moral back. Mr. Khusa wants to change 2 million and there are 200 hundred students to be admitted in the class and that is 2 billion rupees and this corrupt governor who was charged of taking bribe and then penalized by the high court and his bar membership has been cancelled as w ell… Please raise your voice to this injustice

  2. Syed Faqir Aijauddin is an excellent principal & an appropriate person to lead a prestigious instituition such as Aitchison college. He brought merit in the admission process & was above any pressure to admit students.Perhaps, this is the issue where as in our society who does not give in to pressures to bend the rules is …finally removed.

A great loss to a great instituition.

    • i completely agree with you……… this is a real truth for pressuring parents & students,,,,, actually such a parents & students are totally rubbish,,,,,, GOD BLESS YOU.

  3. This article is factually incorrect. Admission in IVY leagues and OXBridge went up in the school drastically since Aijazuddin took over, the colleges endowment is at its highest (ever), and the students can choose from a wider array of subjects than in the colleges history. other than vague statements from 'sources' your story has little or nothing to back it up.
    sincerely,

  4. Ah————what a drastic news—–
F S has done a lot for college but his HR (Mrs Saman) and few others had done a great damage to his repute——-those who idealise LGS while sitting in Aitchison its totally absurd…..
Secondly no one can deny this fact that FS is undoubtedly one of the most active principals of Aitchison's history. He must continue but with some changes.
No of seats for admission must be decreased and he has to be more polite with everyone, especially with parents.

  5. It’s really sad to read this because Mr Aijazuddin has been in charge for 3 years and has given these institution things which some principals weren’t able to give in a decade! Whereas results are concerned it’s very easy for the parents to blame the Principal and the school for their child's deteriorating result while they themselves do not know what their child is actually doing in school. Have they ever thought that their own child is the one purely responsible for his result! Spending hours on Facebook, watching television and playing Playstation and what not, has it occurred to the parents that it’s their own child who is not studying while the teachers at school and the principal are doing everything to their utmost ability! For years now no child has gone to an Ivy League school or has gained admission in Oxford or Cambridge, but this year 2 students from Aitchison have gone to Harvard and 1 student to Oxford! What I can say is that Mr Aijazuddin is a very educated man from whom a multitude of teachers and students have learnt, I personally have learnt a lot from him, things that have and will help me for sure!

  6. Yes parents student and staff members are not satisfied by this rode personality. Everything goes in loss by his management he had destroyed the full structure of this esteemed institution. The pay has not been increased by him and many employees (devoted to college) have been left .So it is a wise design to remove a political appointment.

  7. I agree entirely with the view that the former Principal FS Aijazuddin, was a pretty decent and good principal and administrator; and himself an Old Aitchisonian of the third generation, who understood Aitchison's culture, traditions, history and requirements better than most people, and certainly better than any new principal. It is also understod very clearly by most Aitchisonians, including old Aitcisonians like myself, that the step to remove him and replace him was entirely a subjective action by the Punjab Governor. False charges have been manufactured to condemn and defame FS Aijazuddin via a media campaign and I strongly protest this.

  8. Hmmm, interesting. I am a teacher at Aitchison myself neverthelss its layman's knowledge that Kakir Sb was removed purely out of political and monetary considerations whereby the governor wanted him punished for not acceding to his monetary whims. The artcile does not quote any verifiable source but its factual information that NEVER has Aitchison College had as much money in its coffers as it does now, never has Aitchison in a decade seen as many high profile admissions to ivy leagues and Oxbridge as it did this year. Never have I seen a man with so much command over the language and pertinent knowledge as F.S had and every principal in its past 20 years (ESP the one now) history pales in comparision. Never has Aitchison seen the kind of raises for teachers as F.S forced the BOG to give and that mere fact did not augur well for him because teachers at Aitchison have historically been the most faceless and voiceless of beings only to be stamped upon by management and students alike.
Please on public forums quote facts. He might have rubbed a few incompetent teachers or a few parents ( its public information that Aitchison has some of the most spoilt children as students in Pakistan) over their children's misdemeanours. We live in a country where you can put the child of a poor man under a tractor's wheel yet cant raise on eyebrow over the child of an influential. Is it really a crime to discipline a few kids with mouths as foul as their parent's incomes ?????

  9. As a ''western'' parent I must agree with the comments by the above teacher
My son was at Atchison. What I have seen is that 80% of the pupils are bullies to sevants and contempories no sense of responsability and think they are ''above'' the teachers. to the outside world they contribute very little and rely on the family fortune.
School is a burden to them.

  10. It has possibly helped students around all those values and opinions which must be followed by the one even and surely for the future would blend towards better programs.
