ISLAMABAD – Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday filed a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court praying the appointment of Admiral (r) Fasih Bokhari as chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should be declared void ab initio and incumbent chairman be directed to relinquish the office forthwith.
The petition was filed under Article 184(3), making the federation of Pakistan through the law secretary and establishment secretary and Admiral (r) Fasih Bokhari as respondents. The petitioner prayed to the apex court that as the president had made the appointment of NAB chairman not in consultation with the leader of the House, leader of the opposition and the chief justice of Pakistan, the incumbent NAB chief had no lawful authority to hold the office.
