As many as eight matches were played in the main round of the women’s category of the Punjab Squash Championship here at the Punjab Squash Complex. Sadia Gul of KPK staged the biggest upset of the day when she sent Saima Shaukat of Punjab packing in a 32-minute five-game match.
It was one of the closely-contested match in which Sadia won the first game and went down in the second but came back to win the third but the fourth game was fought till the end with result being 3-1 in Sadia’s favour. Apart from Sadia there is no other player from outside Punjab.
In another interesting match, Zoya Khalid of Punjab after losing the opening game won three back to back games to win the match against Mehwish Hanif in 31 minutes encounter.
Another match that lasted for 32 minute was won by Kainat Liaqat against Nastasia Iqbal. The quarter-finals of the championship will be played today at 11.30 am.
