Police recover gold robbed from Sarafa Bazaar

The Rawalpindi police arrested on Saturday four culprits of the recent Sarafa Bazzar gold robbery and seized almost half of the looted precious metal. The cost of the recovered gold is said to be around Rs 60 million.
SP Rawal Town on Saturday told the reporters that the culprits were the very employees of the robbed jeweller who owned the shop called Sambal Jewellers.
He said police during the investigation learnt that Haroon, one of the employees, had helped his other colleagues in the robbery. He said Haroon, while carrying 2,124 grams of gold, was returning to the shop after some touchstone process when he was allegedly robbed. The SP said police could only recover 1371 grams of gold from them. He said that the nabbed accused confessed to committing the crime and told the investigators that their boss was not “paying them well” and they did to “take a revenge” from him. The alleged culprits were identified as Javid Akhtar, Muhammad Shahbir, Amir Mahmood, Shamraz, while two more of their accomplices Imran and one yet unidentified were still at large. The SP said police were making efforts to recover the rest of the stolen commodity.
