The price of onion has jumped up to Rs 50 per kilogramme, as it once again witnessed an increase of six rupees as compared to the previous week in the federal capital’s Sunday bazaars. The prices of almost all the other vegetables remained stable; however, there was a slight hike in the prices of ginger, pumpkin and peas. The stall holders were of the opinion that the recent floods in various parts of the country were the main reason behind the hike of in the onion price. According to price lists at the Sunday bazaars, potatoes were sold at Rs 36 per kg while ginger and garlic were available at Rs 80 each per kg. The per kilogramme prices of tori and bitter gourd were Rs 50 and Rs 44 were respectively while ladyfinger, Pumpkin and cucumber sold at the rate of Rs 46 per kg.
The per kg rate of peas witnessed an increase of Rs 10, with the price climbing up to Rs 100. In the fruit section, the prices of apple (golden) jumped to Rs 80 per kg with an increase of Rs 10 while the prices of other fruits almost remained unchanged. According to the list, the price of chicken witnessed a slight decrease as it was sold at Rs 115, which was Rs 117 last week.
