Sardar Murad Khan of Gymkhana and Muhammed Rehman (Royal Palm) managed to stay in the limelight right through the three days 30th Al Baraka Punjab Amateur Golf Championship, which concluded Sunday at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course with honours for Sardar Murad.
Murad had a final round score of gross 80 and a three-day aggregate of 226. Rehman produced a round of gross 81 and a three rounds aggregate of 228, losing to Murad by two strokes. Murad said: “It will take time to sink in as the title is important and there have been ups and downs”. He certainly has joined ranks of prestigious title holders. Others to win honors are Mohsin Anwer, third in the gross section, Faisal Sayid (Royal Palm) , first net, Jamal Nasir Khan (Gymkhana) , second net, and Asim Bucha (Gymkhana) , third net. The winners of best gross rounds are Wazir Ali, Mubraiz Ahmed and Ejaz Hussain Qureshi.
Amongst the ladies the top ones are Ghazala Yasmin in gross and Kara Alam in net. The event was supported by Al Baraka and Captain of Lahore Gymkhana Golf Club Amer Mehmood complimented them. And to a big round of applause Shafqaat Ahmed, President, Al Baraka Bank consented to this. Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa awarded prizes to the winners in a ceremony attended by Khawaja Imran Zubai, Convenor Golf, Mian Misbah ur Rehman, Chairman , Lt. Gen (r) M. Tariq, Shafqat Mehood, Pervez Masood, golfers and members.
