In several cases of crime reported on Friday, two men were killed in separate incidents. A 20-year-old boy was shot dead by his neighbour over a minor issue in the Lower Mall Police precincts. Police officials said that Sher Ali, a resident of Mohni Road, was killed by his neighbour, Awais, following an argument over Ali’s refusal to Awais’s mother to bring chapatti from a nearby oven. Awais started shooting wildly at Ali and the bullets hit two other residents of the area. Awais escaped leaving them in a pool of blood.
Ali was taken to Mayo Hospital but he could not survive. Police have sent his body for autopsy and started investigations. In the second incident, a 20-year-old boy who ran a Shawarma outlet in Makhanpura, Shadbagh was shot dead by his acquaintances. According to the victim’s father, his son called him at 3am on Friday and told that he had been shot and was lying near his house. His father rushed him to the hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds. Police registered a case against unknown persons and started investigations. Elsewhere, a police constable’s wife swallowed poisonous pills and went into unconsciousness in Raiwind Road Police precincts. The relatives of Javeria, a mother of three, alleged that she had been poisoned by her husband’s family. They said that her husband, Constable Mubashir Bhatti, wanted to contract a second marriage and there were tensions between the couple for the last couple of weeks.
However Bhatti and his family said she had attempted suicide. She was taken to Jinnah Hospital, where doctors called her condition critical. Raiwind police has started investigations but said that Javeria’s statement would reveal the real story. In another case, a person confessed sodomising a 14-year-old boy and later killing him a couple of days ago, Sundar police said. Cops said Fazil admitted that he had killed Zafar after sodomising him.
