Kumar Sangakkara became the second Sri Lankan and fifth batsman overall to score six or more hundreds against Pakistan in Tests.
The former Sri Lankan skipper achieved this feat by making 161 runs off 295 balls with 16 fours in Sri Lankan second innings on the fourth day of the first Test match against Pakistan at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Friday (October 21).
The 33-year old batted 21 innings of 11 Test matches to reach this landmark.
He scored three hundreds in nine innings of five Test matches in Pakistan with two centuries in 10 innings of five Test match at home and one hundred in two innings of one Test match at Abu Dhabi.
The other batsmen to score six or more hundreds against Pakistan before him were Sri Lanka Aravinda de Silva (eight hundreds in 38 innings of 21 Test matches), South African Jacques Kallis (six hundreds in 26 innings of 15 Test matches), Australian Greg Chappell (six hundreds in 27 innings of 17 Test matches) and Allan Border (six hundreds in 36 innings of 22 Test matches).
n The 153-run stand for the second wicket between Kumar Sangakkara and Lahiru Thirimanne was the third best stand for this wicket position for Sri Lanka against Pakistan.
Roy Dias and Sidath Wettimuny who put on 217 at Faisalabad in 1981-82 holds the record of best second wicket stand for Sri Lanka against Pakistan while 203-run stand between Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara at Lahore in 2001-02 was the second best.
n Lahiru Thirimanne made his maiden half century in the sixth innings of third Test match by making 68 off 159 balls with four fours. His previous best was 38 off 112 balls with four fours against England at Southampton in June 2011.
