Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the appointment of Admiral (retd) Fasih Bokhari as chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), a private TV channel reported.
Chaudhry Nisar, in his petition, urged the apex court to stop Mr Faish from attending his office.
He said President Asif Ali Zardari had appointed Mr Bokhari without completing the consultation process. He had earlier said in a press conference that Mr Bokhari’s appointment was a negation of four Supreme Court verdicts and alleged that Mr Zardari did not want to see an independent and autonomous accountability institution in the country.
Moreover, the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) had also rejected Mr Bokhari’s appointment on technical grounds and asked the government to propose a panel of possible candidates for the office and hold meaningful consultation with it.
But Mr Zardari, in his reply to Chaudhry Nisar’s letter, rejected his objections and said Mr Bokhari’s appointment was in accordance with the law.
This is the second time, the leader of opposition challenged the appointment of a NAB chairman in the apex court. Last year, he challenged the appointment of Justice (retd) Deedar Hussain Shah and got a verdict in his favour.

  1. Nisar has done it again. PML-N does not want a functional NAB. They just want to blame the PPP government and therefore create such hurdles. Their only objective is not to let the PPP government deliver so that they have a better chance in next elections. They can try any trick but Nawaz will not be Prime Minister again. PML-N performance in Punjab is pathetic. Look at the crime rate and corruption. The reason Shahbaz keeps so many portfolios with him is that he wants to make all the money. He loves money & marriages.

  2. Also, Nisar's credentials for impartiality can be judged from the fact that he always likes the portfolio of Petroleum. Why? Because he owns oil tanker business.
