US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday arrived on her first official visit to the ex-Soviet state of Tajikistan for talks focused on regional security. Clinton arrived in the Tajik capital Dushanbe from Islamabad as she is continuing a tour focused on the threat to the region posed by the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Clinton will meet Tajik President Imomali Rakhmon today (Saturday) and move on to Uzbekistan for high-level meetings before heading home on Sunday, the State Department said. Clinton’s visit to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan aims to bolster ties with the two countries lying on an Afghan supply route.
So Clinton is out on serious business! Not the best time in Pakistan, I guess.
