Pharmaceutical industry has rejected the government proposal to grant Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India. Domestic pharmaceutical manufacturers have indicated that any preferential treatment to Indian industry will badly hit the local industry. Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) Former Vice Chairman Khawaja Shahzeb Akram and PPMA Former Chairman Mian Asad Shuja Rehman made these remarks in a press statement after holding a meeting of various pharmaceutical companies’ representatives here on Thursday.
“Pakistani pharmaceutical products are the best in export markets, though the country imports some raw material from India. Pharmaceutical industry is one of the fastest growing industries in Pakistan since people have invested billions of rupees in pharmaceutical manufacturing. They said that Pharma Manufacturers would not support the government’s plan to import medicine from India.
