Karachi Amn Festival from 29th to ‘end fear, maintain peace’

The City District Government Karachi (CDGK), in collaboration with the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, will organise the ‘Karachi Amn Festival’ from October 29 in a bid to “maintain brotherhood and peace and remove fear from the hearts and minds of citizens”.
The city government will launch a series of programmes under the Karachi Amn Festival to gather people from different walks of life on a single platform, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Roshan Ali Shaikh said while speaking a press conference on Thursday.
He was accompanied by Arts Council of Pakistan President, Ahmed Shah, Hon Secretary Prof Aijaz Farooqui, Vice President Farhad Zaidi, Joint Secretary Amin Yousuf and Executive District Officer Community Development Matanat Ali Khan.
 “The first of the programmes will be held in Jheel Park while the others will be held in the People’s Football Stadium in Lyari, Kati Pahari, Qasba Colony and Sachal Goth. The last one will be arranged at Clifton Beach Park, the DCO said.
  “The festival is aimed at creating an atmosphere that can help promote unity and harmony among people from different schools of thought and remove any sense of fear from the hearts of the people.”
 The DCO said that Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan wanted work to be done to remove the sense of fear and terror prevailing among the people of Karachi and to promote unity among all communities and people from different school of thoughts in the city.
.”The Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi can play a very important role in this direction as its members understand the pain of other people and artists and writers are sensitive in nature,” he said.
