A newly-wed couple was brutally slaughtered by unidentified assailants in Chaneser Goth on Thursday. Reportedly, the attackers entered the couple’s house in the wee hours of Thursday and first tortured them and then killed them by cutting their throats with a sharp object. Residents of the neighbourhood told Pakistan Today that the young couple had married on freewill only about a month ago.
Police have registered a case for the murder of Shamraz and his wife. Meanwhile, the police arrested seven suspects from different areas of the city.
Reportedly, four alleged target killers were arrested after an encounter in Shah Faisal Colony and weapons recovered from their possession. The police had received information about the presence of the suspects in a house. More than a dozen police vans arrived at the spot and cordoned off the area. The suspects arrested were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation. However, the police was reluctant to share more details of the operation. In another raid, the police arrested three alleged extortionists red-handed while they were collecting money from industrialists in the Korangi Industrial Area. The police also recovered weapons and drugs from the possession of the suspects arrested.
In a road mishap, a woman was injured when a patrolling police van hit a motorcycle in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Enraged people blocked the road and tried to set ablaze the mobile. The protesters claimed that the law enforcement personnel in the van were drunk. The protest ended two hours later when senior police officers arrived on the scene and assured the demonstrators that a case will be registered against the personnel involved in the incident.
