Dengue kills 6 more

Another six people died of dengue virus on Thursday, as Services Institute of Medical Sciences Principal Prof Dr Faisal Masood warned that dengue coupled with diabetes, blood pressure, cardiac and lever diseases might prove fatal and special care was necessary for such patients.
Thursday’s deaths have taken the death toll to 258, with 230 occurring in Lahore alone. According to details, Zahid Bashir and Javed lost their life at Services Hospital. Rubina Khalid, Rahat Bano and Kiran died at Jinnah Hospital, while Rafiqa Bibi passed away at Mayo Hospital. Prof Masood said the process of training regarding patients’ management and diagnosing of dengue for young doctors and nurses continued at all teaching hospitals of Punjab and training was being imparted to 125 doctors and nurses in Services Hospital daily.
The Punjab Health Department on Thursday reported as many as 286 new dengue patients in Punjab, of which 175 belonged to Lahore.
