The sixth polio case in the city was reported on Thursday, bringing the total number of polio cases in the entire province this year to 25, sources in the Sindh Health Department disclosed. A nine-month-old baby boy, identified as Sharjeel, son of Mulazim Hussain, resident of Union Council-12, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, has been detected positive for polio virus and both his legs affected by the crippling disease, said a health department official. Despite several rounds of polio immunization drives and billions of rupees spent by international health organisations, including WHO and UNICEF, for eradicating polio from Pakistan, polio positive cases are still being reported in the country.
