The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of a case against a private media group filed under defamation charges by Interior Minister Rehman Malik till March 29, 2012.
Chief Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman, who conducted the hearing, made deferred the proceedings of a case in which Malik has sought Rs 1 billion as damages after the media group published news against him, which he described as baseless.
Earlier in September, the IHC issued notices to the managing director and other officials of the private media group on a petition moved by Rehman Malik, as he accused a national daily of wrongly reporting that he was pressurising the then FIA additional director general Zafar Ahmed Qureshi, who had been tasked to probe a multi-billion National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scandal by the apex court.
