Divisional SPs of Lahore Police have finally deputed Jawans of Muhafiz Squad in order to stop eve-teasers from gathering at and around girls’ schools and colleges during opening and closing times, Pakistan Today learnt.
However, the arrangement looks temporary because policemen from Police Lines have not been deputed yet to protect girls from eve teasers.
Sources told Pakistan Today that despite the chief minister’s serious instructions, no permanent arrangement had been made to protect young girls from eve-teasers.
Civil Lines SP Umer Saeed told Pakistan Today that the police had held consultations with the school and colleges administration and had asked them to beef up security and to install CCTV cameras.
A Muhafiz police officer, asking not to named, told this scribe that most of the eve-teasers belonged to influential families and it was next to impossible to control them.
