A conference on the regional water governance focusing on water cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan is going to be held on 01 November here in Islamabad with the hope that talks and arising recommendations will foster peace-building and sustainable water process between the two countries.
The conference will be organised by th eLeadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) Pakistan and the aim of the event is to debate increasing scarcity and strain surrounding water resources. The conference intends to focus on three key themes: sub-national water cooperation; governance of shrinking water resources; and trans-boundary water management.
The conference will take an innovative stance towards water governance focusing on both an integrated and cooperative approach.
Multidisciplinary international experts as well as decision makers will debate the link between local partnerships and conflict resolution mechanism and trans-boundary cooperation. This will act as stepping stone for the “World Water Forum” to be held in France in 2012.
