The Sindh government on Thursday decided to form a commission to compensate the families of those who became victims of the rampant target killings in Karachi.
The Supreme Court (SC) had directed the provincial government to compensate the affected families.
According to a private television channel, in a summary sent to the Chief Minister House, the Sindh home department said the chief of the commission would be nominated once the commission was constituted. The ministry, however, recommended the name of former Sindh High Court judge Allah Dino Metlo for the post.
The commission would pay Rs 50,000 to each family of the victims. It would also conduct interviews of the families and of concerned police officials.
The notification of the formation of the commission would be issued on Saturday.
