Altaf asks CJP to take suo motu notice of his brother and nephew’s murder

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday, requesting him to take suo motu notice of the murder of his elder brother Nasir Hussain and his brother’s son Arif Hussain 16 years ago.
According to a press release issued by the MQM, Hussain wrote to the CJP that on the night between December 5 and 6 in 1995, law enforcement agencies conducted a raid at the residence of his 70-year-old brother Nasir in the Federal B Area and arrested the MQM chief’s 28-year-old nephew Arif, who was brilliant student of the NED University.
He said that his brother Nasir was a retired gazetted officer and the father and son had nothing to do with politics and they were not affiliated with the the MQM.
The MQM leader said that after Arif was arrested, Nasir was also nabbed the next day.
The law enforcement agencies also tried to arrest his other relatives, but there were not home at the time.
Altaf claimed that his brother and nephew were brutally tortured for three days and then taken to the Gadap area, where they were killed and their bodies thrown away.
Altaf said that he collected their bodies from the Edhi Centre and buried them.
Altaf request the CJP to convert his letter into a constitutional petition and issue orders for conducting an investigation into the case.
