Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said terrorism in Pakistan started with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement entering the country’s politics. Talking to a private TV channel, Nawaz said the MQM was the “basis of terrorism in Karachi” and the party would have to make it clear if it wanted clean politics or terrorism through its armed wings. He said when a true patriotic Hakeem Saeed was murdered, “we decided that either the killers of Hakeem Saeed be handed over to us, otherwise our paths were separated”.
Nawaz said he was against terrorism. He criticised the government for not fulfilling its promises, adding that if the situation remained the same, he would not be part of any future all-parties conference. The PML-N chief said the people in the government were involved in corruption and asked how such people could run the country. Nawaz said the government was worst than a dictatorship and the PPP had brought the country on the brink of disaster. He said the inefficient government did not know how to run the country and democracy had been defamed by the rulers.
