A petition was filed in the LHC on Tuesday challenging the expected privatisation of PTV to Indian TV giant Star Group of Companies. The petitioner was filed by former deputy attorney general Khawaja Saeeduz Zafar alleging that PTV Managing Director Yousaf Beg Mirza said that permission had been granted to privatise PTV and authorities were considering to handover the channel to Star Group of Companies. The petitioner submitted that Pakistan will tremendously suffer in terms of harm to its culture and national character if PTV was handed over to the Indian company. The petitioner requested the court to order authorities to stop privatisation of PTV and action might also be taken against the MD for giving a false statement.
