Pakistan’s Ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani on Wednesday urged the need for the normalization of Pak-US relations.
Addressing a forum at California University, Hussain Haqqani stressed the need for better understanding and said that contradictory statements coming from both sides pose a big challenge to the normalization of ties between Pakistan and the United States.
“These time-tested ties should not succumb to any fleeting estrangements,” said Haqqani.
He said that any single incident cannot affect the bilateral relations as both countries agree on common interests.
Haqqani also said that only the continuation of a democratic system can resolve the internal, as well as external, problems of Pakistan, and only democracy can lead the nation to face the challenges of the 21st century.
We want to have good relations with USA. But they must acknowledge our sacrifices & services and show proper respect. We have lost more than 38,000 people in this war. Compared to this the Americans loss of 3,000 on 9/11 is peanuts.
They must pay us for all our economy has lost and also pay us transit charges for their containers using our infrastructure.
These demands must be presented forcefully and should be the bottomline. Otherwise, we should forthwith withdraw from this war. The Americans should stop acting like goondas.
Before 2004 there was I think one suicide bombing in Pak. Now there's 100s every year since then. How many Pakistani hijackers were involved on 9/11? Lemme check – ZERO!! Yet Pakistan pays the price for an "ally" that is trigger happy and more than expected to turn their backs on us again like they did after the Soviet Afghan war which Pakistan won for them! Even the American public is sick and tired of their government's shennanigans against countries they call allies when it suits them. I wonder how the US would feel if a politician of the stature of Benazir Bhutto was assassinated there as a spillover effect of extremism caused by American policies in the region. How would they feel if a few hundred or thousand women and children died as "collateral damage". Yea a couple of Amandas, Johns and Lindsays get killed and they hit the roof – sorry Americans – our Farzanas, Aasiyas and Zainabs are JUST as important! Get a grip on your war mongering back stabbing government and you might begin to see a little sign of respect in the world. And not just the muslim world at this point. Cheers!
