Certain people don’t want elimination of energy crisis: PM

Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that back doors to get power have been closed and the government would complete its tenure.
He was addressing a ceremony ‘Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Achievement Award 2011’ here in Convention Center on Tuesday.
The prime minister said during the eras of Nawaz Sharif and Musharraf even a single megawatt of electricity production was not added and the incumbent government had enhanced the production by 3,000 megawatt.
He said that protests would make no difference as people of Pakistan are wise enough. “Nawaz Sharif should present some solution instead of attempts to destabilise the government,” he further said.
The government was taking concrete steps for controlling the power crises in the country but some people did not want its elimination as they wanted not to give credit to the ruling coalition, Gilani said, adding that such projects would take some time and nothing was possible suddenly.
Criticising protests by PML-N, he said that the people who had adopted wrong way should be put back on right path.
He called upon the business community to come up with proposal for running public sector including Pakistan Railway.
He said the government was offering its full support to any proposal for improving performance of public sector organisation including railways, power sector and others.
He said the present government signed Afghan Transit Trade Agreement that would bring fruit in the long run as it was not limited to only Afghanistan but would also be extended to Central Asian States and other neighbors.
He also distributed awards among member of the chambers for their achievements in various fields and sectors.

Federal Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim, RCCI Chairman, members and a number of families were present on the occasion.
