Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday blamed prohibited militant outfits for the recent wave of terrorist attacks in Balochistan.
Speaking at a ceremony in Quetta, he said arrested criminal elements, having links with banned outfits, were operating from jails.
No Pakistani institution had any connection with the Haqqani network, he said adding that the militant network was a CIA creation and was operating from within Afghanistan.
He further said that restoration of law and order was the top priority of this government.
He said the government had broken the back of terrorists by taking concrete measures. He also made an aerial visit to Pak-Afghan border areas by helicopter.
Later, speaking to journalists in Chaman, he said that local tribesmen would be issued special cards for movements along border areas.
Meanwhile, as the interior minister was speaking to media, NATO helicopters violated Pakistan’s airspace.
