Absence of chairman hurting Pakistan cricket

The absence of newly-appointed PCB chairman in the office is having adverse effects on Pakistan cricket especially when they are playing a very important series against Sri Lanka in the UAE.
Although there was no date mentioned on Mr Zaka’s appointment letter but sources say he would take charge of the PCB on October 24. The reason for delay is that he is knitting some loose ends in ZTBL but what if things at the PCB got loose enough to be knitt at all? That is when Pakistan are playing a series against Sri Lanka and a spot-fixing case is being heard in a London court.
Former ICC president Ehsan Mani termed his absence from office confusing for the team management during the a very important series in the UAE.
“The situation is beyond my understanding. There’s a degree of uncertainty and it’s not an ideal start for the new PCB chairman. This will have an adverse effect on our cricket and will hurt the team’s performance,” Mani said.
“The team management, including coaches are confused about their future which will disturb their focus,” he added.
Zaka, who replaced Ijaz Butt after his term expired on October 8, is yet to be recognised by the ICC, which gave clear directions to all the cricket boards to have a democratically elected president.
