Three robbers on Monday evening killed a shopkeeper and severely injured his brother in a robbery attempt at College Road.
According to Green Town police, the victim Waheel Abbas and his brother Sagheer Abbas ran a grocery store at College Road, where three armed men stormed into their shop and held them at gunpoint. The two brothers tried to resist by trying to pull out their guns, however the robbers opened fire at them and escaped after looting thousands of rupees.
Some local residents immediately informed the Rescue 1122 and police, who after reaching the scene rushed Waheel and Sagheer to Jinnah Hospital where doctors declared Waheel dead and said his brother was in a critical condition. Police have sent Waheel’s body for an autopsy and started investigations.
In another case of murder, a 35-year-old labourer was shot dead by unidentified men for unknown reasons in the Manawa Police precincts.
The labourer , Muhammad Saleem, was a resident of Ahmed Town. Inspector Akhtar Gujjar, station house officer (SHO) of Manawa Police Station, said some locals had informed the police about a body lying by the roadside near Tajgarh village. He said Saleem was shot dead while returning house from a local factory where he worked.
The SHO rejected the possibility of robbery because police had found Saleem’s mobile phone and cash with him.
