The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) on Monday condemned the Punjab government’s non-cooperative attitude and claimed that it was preventing the party from publicising its October 30 public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan. Holding a press conference along with PTI leaders including Dr Yasmin Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry, Umer Cheema, Shabbir Sial, Ishtiaq and Mian Azhar, PTI Punjab President Ahsan Rashid and PTI Lahore President Mahmood Rashid alleged that the Punjab government had pulled down PTI hoardings and billboards and also threatened advertising agencies of cancelling their lease if they entertained the party’s publicity. “The administration’s behaviour is uncalled for, as it is our constitutional right to carry out political activities. The Punjab government should not test our patience, as we have the right to take the matter to court. The party will not stop from openly publicising its October 30 public meeting and if the discriminatory attitude continued, the party will hold street protests,” they added.
The PTI leaders said that the administration’s non-cooperative attitude showed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was threatened by the growing popularity of PTI and more prominent politicians will join the party in coming days. They disclosed that former state minister for law and parliamentarian affairs Shahid Akram Bhinder from Gujranwala will join the party today (Tuesday). They disclosed that registration of new voters was very slow in the city with only 20 percent of the process completed. The PTI leaders appealed to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to expedite the process and extend the deadline for registration if required.

  2. Until 1997 elections, I was a great supporter of PML(N), primarily as my parents always voted and favored Shareef Brothers. My parents were convinced as the party made Motor Way, fixed Lahore streets, and made LDA workers to clean the streets!. However, in the last decade, since their exile, all Pakistanis with some common sense were able to see the true faces of these corrupt and incompetent leaders, as the records of their corruption came to surface. Though they can’t match PPP in corruption, but they failed to do anything significant to improve the condition of ordinary Pakistani.

I also believed that this party had some leaders with great potentials. However, seeing how senior leadership of this party appear on different programs and made so false accusations to discredit IK, I was really shocked to see how morally bankrupt these politicians were. My parents who were very strong supporters of PML(N), watched an episode of “Off the Record” in which Khawaj Asif made so many false accusations on IK, that at the end of the program, my father said he couldn’t believe that he wasted his vote in past 4 election to elect this group!.

  3. I am thankful to PML(N) for helping IK by discussing him on every forum, by blocking his public meetings, by discrediting him for his social work….pls continue your efforts and insha-Allah you will make him successful. For all Pakistanis: we can’t afford to afford to bring PML(N) and PPP into power again. Just think about the role of both parties in the last two decades before voting them again. And we all know and believe who can lead our nation in a right direction!. I hope it’s not a puzzle.

For all who believe in change, pls come out comfort zone and show your support. Yes. Revolution does not come by sitting on the couches and watching cable!.
