Abdul Qadir, a resident of University Town, appealed on Tuesday to the inspector general of police and chief justice of the Peshawar High Court to recover his father, who had been missing since his arrest by the Hayatabad Police. Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, Qadir said that his father was a fruit seller who supplied fruit to the Peshawar Mandi from Afghanistan. Qadir’s father and his friends were in his car when Hayatabad police intercepted them and arrested them without any reason, Qadir alleged.
He said that when he visited Hayatabad Police Station, he was told that his father would be released soon but several days passed and he was not released. Qadir said that upon visiting the police station again, he was told that his father was not present in police custody anymore. Qadir appealed to the chief justice of the Peshawar High Court to inquire into the incident and ensure recovery of his father.
