Man arrested for kidnapping uncle for ransom

Shehzad Town police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested a man who along with his six associates had kidnapped his uncle for ransom. The police said they also recovered the kidnapped man from the Shorkot area of Jhang district. A police spokesman said the alleged culprits had kidnapped a trader named Allah Ditta from Sector F-6/1. The abducted traders used to run the Bengali Samosa Shop in the Farooqia Market.
The police spokesman said that Allah Ditta’s wife, Khairunnisa, had lodged a report with the Shehzad Town Police Station that her husband had been missing since 6 October. She had reported that her husband was kidnapped by unidentified men at gunpoint when Allah Ditta along with his nephew named Afzal and driver named Abbas was on his way home. She told the police the kidnappers were demanding Rs 5 million as ransom for the release of her husband. The police said a special police team was formed to recover the abducted man. The team was headed by DSP Khursheed Ahmed Khan and comprised SHO Inspector Younus Gujjar, Sub-Inspector Arshad Ali, ASI Salman Shah and others. During the investigation Afzal and Abbas confessed to the kidnapping and said they had abducted Allah Ditta for a ransom worth Rs 5 million. Later the police team also arrested their five other associates including Ramazan, Asad and Zafar. The police also recovered Allah Ditta from the Wariam Wala area of Tehsil Shorkot of Jhang district, where he was being kept in chains.
