Karachi’s architects to get their ‘nucleus’ in 3 years

The Institute of Architects of Pakistan (IAP) has embarked upon the ‘IAP House’ project – aimed at providing single-room facility to the community of architects of Pakistan in general and Karachi in particular. “The IAP House will become the nucleus of all activities related to the architectural community, IAP Karachi Chairman Arshad Faruqui said on Monday. “Its design encompasses conference and seminar rooms with a resource centre to encourage students and architects to undertake research oriented projects.” Faruqui said that the building, with its stone-laying ceremony held last Friday, will also include a permanent display area for architectural and interior products, and a gallery for display of architectural works carried out in the region.
“It is expected to be completed in three years and the IAP Karachi chapter has already under taken a fund raising drive for the multi purpose project,” he added It is pertinent to mention that the IAP is the representative institute for professional architects of Pakistan registered first under the societies act in 1968 and then subsequently under the companies ordinance with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
