The role of chemistry in synthesising and shaping the world which we inhabit and in fulfilling our requirements is pivotal. It has given us the materials which we need and the ongoing journey for new marvels. This was stated by Malakand University Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan while inaugurating as chief guest a three-day conference on “Recent Trends in Chemistry” which has been jointly organised by Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH), Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Nuclear Fuel Cycle Division and National Centre from Physics. He also made special mention of the research activities undertaken by PINSTECH in liaison with universities and research institutions, said a press release issued on Tuesday.
Through the conference, PINSTECH hopes to emphasise the international activities being carried out in the UN year of Chemistry. United Nations has declared 2011 as the year of Chemistry with special mention of the second Nobel Prize being awarded to Madame Marie Curie in 1911 in Chemistry followed by one in Physics.
