The government has failed to fill the post of the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) despite the passing of the three-month period following the resignation of Shahid Kardar’s from the post of the sate bank chief.
Kardar’s resignation was accepted on July 18 and Yaseen Akhtar took charge as the acting acting governor of SBP on July 19.
According to local newspapers, the president will appoint the State Bank governor within two to three days, and so far Yaseen Anwar, Ali Raza and Shamshad Akhtar appear to be the front runners for the post.
